Introduction:

What is Electrical Silicon Steel Alloy Steel Sheet?

Electrical Silicon Steel Alloy Steel Sheet is a special steel used in the cores of electromagnetic devices such as motors, generators, and transformers because it reduces power loss. It is an iron alloy with silicon as the main additive element (instead of carbon). The silicon content in electrical steel may range from 0.5% to 6.5%, with commercial alloys usually having silicon content up to 3.2% to avoid brittleness during cold rolling. Manganese and aluminum can also be added up to 0.5%. Silicon increases the electrical resistivity of iron, which decreases the induced eddy currents and narrows the hysteresis loop of the material, thus lowering the core loss by about three times compared to conventional steel.

Types of Electrical Silicon Steel Alloy Steel Sheet

There are two main types of electrical silicon steel alloy steel sheet:

1. Grain-oriented Electrical Silicon Steel Alloy Steel Sheet: Tailored for transformer cores and valued for their directional magnetic characteristics.

2. Non-oriented Electrical Steel Alloy Steel Sheet: Ferrosilicon alloy with very low carbon content. In the deformed and annealed steel sheet, its grains are distributed randomly.
