Introduction:

What Is Silicon Steel Sheet?

Silicon steel sheet is a low carbon-containing soft magnetic alloy of ferrosilicon. It has a silicon content of 0.5-4.5%, which is made by hot rolling and cold rolling. Adding silicon can improve the resistivity and maximum permeability of iron and reduce coercivity, core loss (iron loss), and magnetic aging. This product is designed specifically for electrical applications, especially in the construction of transformers, motors, generators, and other electrical equipment.

Generally speaking, silicon steel sheets can be divided into different types:

According to their manufacturing process: hot rolled silicon steel sheets and cold rolled silicon steel sheets.

According to grain orientations, cold rolled silicon steel sheets can be subdivided into cold rolled non-grain oriented silicon steel sheet and cold rolled oriented silicon steel sheets.

Cold Rolled Non-Grained Oriented Silicon Steel Sheet: it has silicon levels ranging from 0.5% to 3.25% Si and has uniform magnetic properties in all directions. Thus it can be used in the construction of electrical components such as transformers and electric motors where the direction of the magnetic field is not important.

Cold Rolled Grain Oriented Silicon Steel Sheet: it contains 2.9%-3.5% Si, and the crystal structure has a certain regularity and direction. CRGO silicon steel sheet can be used in the manufacturing of transformers, rectifiers, reactors, and large motors, where the direction of the magnetic field is important.
